Opening — We’re coming to the U.S.

We’re opening the doors to the U.S. soon. We can’t wait to see the first epa-1s rolling on American roads.

Over the past year, we’ve been working closely with our friends at teenage engineering® to build something truly new. Not just another electric moped, its a product with personality, purpose, and room to grow with its rider.

I’m Micke, and together with my team, we’ve developed the epa-1 from the ground up. We’ve designed it, tested it, refined it and yes, we’ve been hands-on building every single bike ourselves. There’s a lot of care, problem-solving, and love behind every epa-1 that leaves our workshop.

We genuinely hope our friends in the U.S. will enjoy riding it as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.

U.S. launch timeline — how it works

We are planning to launch the epa-1 in the United States in Q1 2026.

Before we can deliver, a few key steps need to be completed:

Step 1 — U.S. import setup

We are currently establishing our U.S. customs setup, including our Importer of Record (IOR) registration, customs bond, and U.S. tax identity (EIN). This allows us to legally import and clear vehicles into the United States under our own name.

Step 2 — Nationwide logistics partner

In parallel, we are finalizing an agreement with a logistics partner that can cover the entire U.S., ensuring fast and reliable last-mile delivery.

Step 3 — Ocean freight to California

Once all paperwork is in place, production units will be shipped by ocean freight to our new warehouse in California. Air freight is technically possible, but far too costly and we want to keep the epa-1 priced sensibly for the U.S. market.

Step 4 — Ready for delivery

When the bikes arrive, are cleared through customs, and stocked at our California warehouse, we’ll be able to ship immediately to customers across the U.S.

Developed togeather with teenage engineering®

epa-1 is the result of a close collaboration between Vässla and teenage engineering® one of the world’s most influential design and technology studios. Known for redefining audio products and industrial design, teenage engineering® brought the same sharp thinking and creative edge into the world of electric mobility.

Our shared goal was simple but ambitious:
to set a new standard for what an electric moped can be in design, innovation, and accessibility.

epa-1 stands for “En Passar Alla” - One Fits All.

We’ve developed two battery options:

A standard battery for everyday commuting. School, work, or your favorite coffee stop
A high-capacity battery for riders who want to go further on a single charge

epa-1 features:

2600W electric motor

- Advanced controller with Bluetooth connectivity
- Alarm system
- Newly developed headlights for increased safety
- Multiple start options: key card, remote control, or traditional key

Regulatory information (USA)

The epa-1 is fully certified for road use in the EU.
In the United States, certification and road-use regulations vary by state, and the epa-1 is currently not registered under a unified U.S. standard.

We are working toward U.S. registration and compliance, with the intention to introduce a U.S.-certified version in the future. Early customers may receive an EU-certified vehicle, which in many cases can be used without major issues, but local regulations may apply depending on where you ride.

The epa-1 can also be speed-limited to meet local low-speed vehicle requirements, which in some states may allow on-road use. Customers are responsible for checking and complying with applicable state and local laws.
